blogg’d – Wade’s Cabin

This post was lingering around in my drafts. Since camp is coming up I figured I’d go ahead and share. I never finished this post and now it’s too late cause the memories are faint. enjoy anyways…

It’s been 3 days since returning as a counselor from our church’s summer camp. I had eight 7th grade boys and they were all very unique individuals indeed. Most of them go to JV on Friday nights. It’s funny because I’ve never noticed any of them (it doesn’t help that there are 300-500 faces each week). But now that I’ve spent time with them, I look forward to seeing them each week.

Here were my guys:
Zach is fearless when it comes to creatures. I wouldn’t dare be touching a GIANT COCKROACH! But not Zach! Apparently, one lived in the room where Roy and I were editing the movie upstairs in the gym. Zach was so interested in touching it (I wonder if he realizes how many diseases they carry… not that I know, but that just GROSS!) On the last night he found this frog (not that gross to me, but…) and he would walk up to a group of unsuspecting girls and toss it into the crowd and send then running in terror. Yes, I got it on film (I’ll have to post it on here :) .

Akil was the funny man of the bunch. He always had a good joke for us at night (surprisingly, most were clean. Yes, I stopped the unclean ones). A brunette, a redhead, and a blonde were all stranded in the desert. The brunette took all the money they had and went out to get help. She came back with nothing. Then the redhead took all the money they had and went out to get help. She came back with nothing. Then the blonde took all the money they had and went out to get help. She came back with a car door. “Why did you waste all of our money on that?”, they asked. She replied, “So in case it gets hot, we can roll down the window!” That was my favorite Akil joke. I kept asking him for more jokes ;)

Bryan is a (competitive) soccer dude. He had many stories about soccer and was very competitive in everything we talked about. “I bet I could do that better than you” kinda attitude. But it wasn’t a stuck-up attitude. The way he would say it came across as informed and knowledgable in what he was talking about. I think Bryan was the most interesting person in my cabin; he always had something to share (I guess there was just so many, I don’t remember any right now). Oh, and he totally sat on my bead with wet swim shorts; twice!

Frankie is the FART KING! He literally cleared our cabin on many occasions. Man, they were stank! But Frankie stuck by my side a lot at camp, I hope I was a good counselor for him. He showed a lot of interest in the video team. He was all about being in front of the camera.

Cole was the serious skater of the bunch (there were a lot of skaters at camp). I think he might have slept with his deck one of the nights. I remember the first free time we had. Cole went ahead of everyone and I was wondering where he went to. Turns out he was atempting to grind the handrail by the King’s Chapel.

Eric was the tough guy. But you could tell he had a soft heart. I wish I could’ve connected better with him, but I hardly saw him (good job Wade. way to go keeping up with your kids).
